Please join us...it's a great way to get to know the PGIslanders and learn about our activities!\n\nWe'l l be reviewing upcoming cruises and social events\, followed by our Educat ion Segment. Bring your own beverage.\n\ nEducation Segment\nCompetitive Sailing on Charlotte Harbor\n \;\n\nJi m Nusso from Isles Yacht Club along with John Humphries and Greg Robins fr om the Punta Gorda Sailing Club will discuss sailboat racing on Charlotte Harbor.\n\nIsles Yacht Club runs a series of races for one-design Harbor 2 0 boats\, while the Punta Gorda Sailing Club runs a series of races for PH RF rated boats.\n\nThey'll discuss the upcoming season and how folks can g et involved either with their boats or as crew.\n\n \;\n\nBiography Ca ptain Jim Nuzzo\n\nBorn and raised in Cleveland\, Ohio.\n\nSpent 4 years o n the Great Lakes in the US Coast Guard.\n\nGraduate of the Great Lakes Ma ritime Academy in Traverse City\, Michigan.\n\nHeld an unlimited tonnage M aster &\; Pilot’s License for the Great Lakes.\n\nWorked commercially on the Great Lakes for 34 years\, 23 as Captain on large bulk freighters. \n\nLifelong recreational boater\, both power and sail\, race or cruise.\n \nFormer Commodore of Isles Yacht Club and the Punta Gorda Sailing Club.\n \nJim and his wife of 45 years\, Carol\, retired to Punta Gorda full time in 2008. They have a Harbor 20’ sailboat and 22’ center console at the ir home in PGI.\n\n \;\n\nBiography John Humphries\n\nJohn has been sa iling since he was 7 years old.  He sailed all over New England through c ollege.  His spent his working at nuclear power plants around the US and England.  He moved to Punta Gorda in 2018. He bought a sailboat but Hurri cane Ian totaled it.  He’s been racing on other sailing club members bo ats for the last 6 years.  He’s the current president of the Punta Gord a Sailing Club.
