Echo Experimental Farms is located in North Fort Myers along Bayshore East of I-75 at 17391 Durrance Rd. It is a research farm which experiments with various crops and farming techniques found in much of the third world. Their goal is to help people not only to subsist but to thrive. The tour takes you through dry, monsoon, flooded, terraced and roof farming techniques.
The tour will begin at 10. You will want to leave Punta Gorda by about 9 to get signed up in time. You can pay your own way when you get there. The tour and pre-video will take about 1½ to 2 hours depending on questions. If you, or someone you wish to bring has walking trouble, they have a golf cart that can be used on the tour.
If you have not yet been there, you don’t want to miss this. You will make it a number one attraction for all your guests! Learn more about plants you may never have heard about or learn what is happening with the world’s food supply. I know I am going to lay in a supply of my NEEM products at the gift store and book shop!
Let me know if you are coming and if you would be interested in a car pool.
