PGIslanders Drive-Thru Food Drive
Wednesday, May 13, 2020
The PGIslanders Food Drive for St. Vincent de Paul was a tremendous success. The first of 133 cars showed up about 8:15 am (a little early) and the last about 11:40 am (a little late). In addition, four walkers and two bicyclists stopped by with their contributions.
The steady stream of donors filled the St. Vincent de Paul box truck by about 10:00 am. When they returned, we had collected enough to start filling the truck again. By the time we finished, a good portion of the second truck was filled. The drivers said all this donated food will be distributed on Friday to those in need.
Three generous people donated money for the cause – two for $100.00 each and one amazing donation of $1,000.00. In this difficult time, St. Vincent de Paul can surely use these donations.
Besides all the donors, Penny and Nan would like to thank the following people for their help: Regina Buckley, Connie Merritt, Gail Adshead, Bill & Mary Yeomans, and our photographer, Richard Collins. Richard also secured use of the St. Vincent de Paul truck and volunteers.
